How can I boost my conversion rates?

First, what is a "conversion rate"? Conversion rates are the percent or number of visitors that actually buy your product or service. On average you can expect a conversion rate of 0.5% to 3% range. Or, for every 100 visitors your site has, 3 or less will buy. 

The best way to boost conversion rates is to apply direct marketing principles to your website. Sell your visitors on how your product/service will fulfill their need. There is a radio commercial locally that is selling Farmland Bacon. During the whole commercial you hear bacon frying in a pan. The image it brings to mind is Sunday mornings with my Grandma making breakfast. They are not selling "bacon", they are selling the homey feeling I get when I hear bacon frying. Your website should be doing the same. Don’t sell the "product", sell the "sizzle".
